Making Tax Digital
HMRC's move to digital records and digital tax submissions, explained simply.
Not more complicated. Just more regular.
Making Tax Digital (MTD) is HMRC's programme that requires businesses and landlords to keep digital records and send updates to HMRC using compatible software. You don't need to become an accountant, but your records need to be ready on time, every time.
MTD for VAT
Required for all VAT-registered businesses since April 2022. VAT records are kept digitally and returns are filed through compatible software.
MTD for Income Tax
For sole traders and landlords above certain income levels: four quarterly updates a year, plus a final declaration.
